The itinerary for your spa stay

Bring your body and soul back into balance through holistic treatments during a two- to four-week Ayurveda cure. Special massages and purification techniques are complemented by Ayurvedic nutrition and medicines. After a detailed preliminary talk with Dr. Upul, you will receive a treatment plan that meets your personal Dosha (life energy) and is adjusted daily. For a stay starting from 12 days, we offer our guests the Panchakarma treatment. We will be happy to advise you and answer any questions about your spa stay – by phone or email.

The procedure of your ayurvedic treatment:

  1. Preliminary talk: At the beginning of your treatment, our Ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Upul, will determine your Dosha type (Vata, Pitta or Kapha), with the help of a traditional pulse diagnosis, and analyze any existing physical complaints.
  2. Medication: Based on the examination and a personal interview, Dr. Upul will determine which medications you will take twice daily with meals.
  3. Treatments: Together with your therapist, Dr. Upul will create a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs and physical complaints. The daily Ayurvedic treatment takes about two and a half hours and consists of three to four different massages, as well as cleansing baths and oil pourings. During your stay, Dr. Upul conducts regular check-up examinations, so we can adapt your further treatment to changes in your condition. You will receive your new treatment plan for the next day after dinner each evening.
  4. The end of your treatment: At the end of your treatment, Dr. Upul will explain, after another pulse diagnosis, which changes have taken place in your body and which ones are just beginning. We will give you detailed instructions concerning the Ayurvedic resources you can use to expand the success of your treatment beyond the end of your stay. For this, we provide you with a personalized meal plan and can provide you with medications, on request.

For planning your daily routine, here are our mealtimes.

  1. Breakfast
Between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m., an Ayurvedic breakfast consisting of a herbal soup and fruits awaits you. In addition, we serve you hot water, which stimulates your metabolism. The Ayurvedic breakfast, unlike in Western nutrition philosophies, is very light
  2. Lunch
In perfect harmony with your treatment, you have time between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. to relax and strengthen yourself for the second half of the day. Lunch is, according to Ayurvedic teachings, the heaviest meal of the day, because at this time the digestive fire (Agni) burns most strongly.
  3. Dinner
Starting at 7:00 p.m. we serve you a light meal, in order not to strain your stomach at bedtime. With dinner, you receive medications tailored to your needs.

Our team

At Thaulle Resort, you will be treated solely by qualified Ayurvedic doctors and therapists who have devoted themselves to holistic medicine and sustainability. Our head physician, Dr. Upul, is one of the most famous Ayurvedic physicians in Sri Lanka. For more than 15 years, he has treated European spa guests. To ensure an ideal communication during your Ayurveda cure, we are happy to support you with mother tongue speakers if needed.

Our Ayurvedic centre

You will receive all of your Ayurvedic treatments in the caring atmosphere of our Ayurveda centre, so you can relax completely and concentrate fully on the healing effects of your treatments. It is slightly withdrawn from the rest of the resort, providing a private garden. There, you can relax between treatments and enjoy the spectacular view of the adjacent lake.

Private treatment rooms:

The Ayurveda centre consists of six private treatment rooms where our doctors and therapists treat you in an intimate atmosphere. Each room is traditional but individually decorated, and includes a private bathroom and a shower.

Our Ayurveda centre has its own pharmacy, with a wide range of selected and certified Ayurvedic medicines and herbs from our own garden.

Doctor’s room

For screening and check-up purposes, our doctor will see you in a separate room where you can exchange information completely confidentially.

We provide our guests with a spacious, air-conditioned room on the top floor, with panoramic views of the Yoda Lake, for this purpose. You can also rent the Yoga loft for retreats.

Ayurvedic cuisine

Our chefs have received a special Ayurvedic training. The individual dishes are matched to the treatment plans of guests and their Doshas. Foods that fit your Dosha are easily recognizable by the coloured marks on their containers. We only use fresh fruits and vegetables that we partly grow ourselves, and our own herbs and spices. As beverages, we serve fresh fruit juices, Ceylon tea and hot water, which has a beneficial effect on digestion, according to Ayurvedic teachings. From the restaurant, you have a unique view of the Yoda Lake.

Ayurvedic cuisine is part of our traditional holistic treatment concept. Just like the various treatments we offer, it is adapted to the needs and physical complaints of each guest. The goal is to eliminate deficiencies and prevent overstressing. Accordingly, the diet depends on each guest’s Dosha type (Vata, Pitta or Kapha).
In Ayurvedic cooking, fresh ingredients, especially fruits and herbs play a very significant role. We also take care, in the sense of a balanced diet, to be sure that each guest receives something from every flavour at each meal. These are, according to traditional Ayurvedic teachings, sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent and pungent.

To treat our guests, we use only certified Ayurvedic medicines. Our doctor carefully chooses and tests them. They are produced by the renowned manufacturers Siddhalepa Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Line. Intake of medicines is done only in consultation with our physician, Dr. Upul. Here, too, there are German- and English-speaking caregivers to help.
