At Thaulle, your nutrition is tailored to your dosha type, your course of treatment and your doctor’s recommendations. You eat fresh, light meals that support digestion, regeneration and your therapy progress. At the same time, you enjoy full board in a calm, comfortable setting – no standard buffets, no generic wellness cuisine.
In our restaurant, we spoil you not only with a wonderful view over Yoda Lake, the pool and the orchard, but also with lovingly created culinary delights. Our chefs are trained in the preparation of international and local dishes and are specialists in Ayurvedic cuisine.
At Thaulle, the kitchen works as part of the medical Ayurveda concept. Your meals are based on your dosha type (Vata, Pitta or Kapha), your current condition and the recommendations of treating physician Dr Upul. This creates nutrition that actively supports your cure – not a one-size-fits-all buffet.
This means: instead of a generic “healthy kitchen,” you receive dishes that match your individual therapy plan and complement your daily treatments. You can easily identify which foods suit your dosha by the colour markings on the serving containers.
Our chefs hold specialised Ayurvedic training. Each dish is tailored to the treatment plans and doshas of our guests. For many guests, this is the defining difference between a genuine Ayurveda cure at Thaulle and a conventional wellness stay.
Ayurvedic nutrition at Thaulle follows the principle of balance. Fresh ingredients, gentle preparation and the conscious inclusion of the six taste qualities – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent and pungent – are as much a part of this as close coordination with your course of treatment.
Many ingredients for the Ayurveda cuisine at Thaulle come directly from our own organic farm, where herbs, vegetables and medicinal plants are cultivated. Additional produce is sourced regionally from the Tissamaharama area. Fish and seafood are delivered fresh from Kirinda fish market and Yoda Lake.
We partly grow our own fruit and vegetables; herbs and spices come from our own garden. This ensures short supply chains, peak freshness and full control over quality and origin.
Fish and seafood – including lobster, octopus, mussels and red mullet – come directly from Yoda Lake or the nearby Kirinda fish market. We use only fresh ingredients, without exception.

The island’s cuisine features traditional spices such as Ceylon cinnamon, cardamom, pandanus leaves, green chillies, fennel seeds and black mustard seeds. A typical day includes a light start, a nourishing lunch and a consciously gentle dinner. Depending on your doctor’s recommendations, meals may include herbal soups, fresh fruit, rice dishes, curries, chutneys, Ceylon tea or hot water, which Ayurvedic teachings consider beneficial for digestion.

Complementing the cure-based nutrition, the Thaulle Beach Restaurant at Kirinda Beach belongs to the Thaulle family. Here you experience local and international cuisine in a beachfront setting with views of the Indian Ocean. Open daily from 10:00 to 23:00 – ideal before or after your cure.
The menu features fresh seafood, fish dishes and a blend of Sri Lankan and international cuisine. The atmosphere is more open, maritime and pleasure-oriented than the cure-accompanying dining at the resort.
