The daily routine of an Ayurveda cure at Thaulle Resort in Sri Lanka follows a clear medical structure: initial diagnosis by Dr. Upul, a personalised treatment plan with up to five therapies per day, three Ayurvedic meals, yoga and dedicated rest periods. No standard programme – your schedule is adjusted daily to match your condition, starting with a traditional pulse diagnosis.
On your first day, Dr. Upul conducts a thorough consultation using traditional pulse diagnosis. He determines your Dosha type, assesses your complaints and current condition. From this, he creates your personalised treatment plan – including medication and nutrition. No guest starts with a standard programme.
Dr. Upul brings 20 years of experience and has personally supervised over 3,000 European guests. He speaks German and accompanies your entire stay. A German- or English-speaking aide assists you during all consultations and treatments.
The initial examination is the foundation of your entire stay. Everything that follows – treatments, nutrition, medication, rest periods – builds on this diagnosis. Learn more about the complete cure programme in detail on our programme page.
A typical Ayurveda day at Thaulle starts gently and follows a clear daily routine: light Ayurvedic breakfast, up to five individually tailored treatments in the separate Ayurveda centre, the main meal at midday, dedicated rest periods, and a light evening meal. Each evening, you receive your plan for the following day.
The Ayurvedic cuisine at Thaulle is part of the treatment: every dish is tailored to your Dosha type, colour-coded and prepared from fresh, partly home-grown ingredients.
At Thaulle, yoga is not an optional extra but an integral part of the cure framework. Depending on your programme, yoga is woven into your daily rhythm and complemented by breathing exercises (Pranayama) or meditation. No performance pressure – just a calm counterbalance to your treatments.
Sessions take place in the garden or in the air-conditioned yoga loft on the top floor – with panoramic views of Yoda Lake. The space is also available for private retreats. Yoga times follow your individual treatment plan, not a fixed timetable.
The time between treatments is not a gap in the schedule but a deliberate part of your recovery. Many guests rest in their room, read in the Ayurveda centre garden or take a short walk along Yoda Lake. The quiet location supports this retreat.
Thaulle is located on Yoda Lake near Tissamaharama, 14 km from Yala National Park. The seclusion is not a drawback – it is part of the treatment concept: fewer stimuli, more nature, better sleep. All rooms at a glance feature a balcony, glass front and unobstructed views of nature – from 18 m² to 57 m², in five categories.
At the end of your cure, Dr. Upul conducts a final consultation with a renewed pulse diagnosis. He discusses what has already changed and what to focus on at home. You receive a personalised nutrition plan and, on request, Ayurvedic remedies for after your departure.
Many guests use the days before or after their cure to explore the surroundings – Yala National Park, historical sites or the coast. More on our excursions and activities page.
At Thaulle, you do not experience a generic spa routine but a medically supervised daily rhythm. The combination of medical diagnosis, up to five daily treatments, cure-supporting nutrition and deliberate rest periods is what sets this apart from a wellness holiday.
